Mark your calendars for Northfield’s 17th perennial celebration of Earth Day! On Saturday, April 25th, Armory Square and Division Street will be filled with earth-friendly exhibitors, farmers market vendors, and community members leading hands-on workshops. The theme of this year’s event is “Stand Up for Our Planet: Small Actions, Big Impact.” Here’s a taste of what to expect:
Kick off the weekend with a Contra Dance at Armory Square from 7-10pm on Friday, April 24th.
Enjoy nature and make a difference for local lands! Help restore a prairie at St. Olaf Natural Lands on Friday afternoon, or assist with a service project at the Carleton Arboretum on Saturday morning. Or, take a deep dive into regenerative agriculture at the Salvatierra Farm, for a tour from 1pm-3pm on Sunday.
Learn a new skill at a free workshop at Armory Square. Highlights include indigo dyeing (back by popular demand!), bike maintenance, and a build-your-own rain barrel demonstration- plus more…
Take action to encourage legislators to “Stand Up For Our Planet” by participating in a community photo. The photo will be taken immediately following updates on Northfield’s Climate Action Plan from Erica Zweifel and Sara Pabich, the City of Northfield’s Mayor and Sustainability Coordinator.
