The Blossoming of La Tía Farm
La Tía farm is owned and operated by Erika Gomez. She immigrated to Minnesota from Mexico and joined Sharing Our Roots to start her own farm. Now, she has grown her vegetable farm into a thriving business. Erika sells products to direct to consumer markets, like Riverwalk Farmer’s Market, and wholesale accounts like the CAC food shelf and The Good Acre. She grows a wide variety of vegetables including, Roma tomatoes, tomatillos, hot peppers, sweet corn, cilantro, rosemary, thyme, and marjoram. Erika uses a wide variety of organic seeds, many of which are heirloom varieties that have been saved and passed down from Mexico. This month, she is partnering with Grapeful Wine Bar in Owatonna– swing by and enjoy hyperlocal, organic, and delicious dishes now until August 31st!
La Tía Farm Booth at Riverwalk Farmer’s Market in Northfield
This year for Local Foods Month Grapeful Wine Bar is highlighting La Tia Farm, in this month-long event from August 1st-31st. Grapeful Wine Bar started from a simple love for great wine, good company, and the desire to build a welcoming neighborhood hangout in downtown Owatonna. Stop by and taste the magic of organic, nutrient-rich, and regeneratively grown produce!
This collaboration features delicious dishes including:
La Tía Roasted Tomato & Garbanzo Dip $14
A rich, deeply flavorful summer dip made from roasted Roma tomatoes and tender garbanzo beans, blended smoothly with garlic, fresh garden herbs, and a bright splash of fresh lemon juice. Served beautifully chilled alongside a colorful arrangement of crisp, seasonal garden veggies and a crunchy starch for the perfect savory bite.
Summer Garden & Tomatillo Flatbread $15
A celebratory showcase of local summer produce. We start with a melted base of rich mozzarella cheese, then layer on slices of sweet Roma tomatoes and tangy, crisp tomatillos. Finished with a selection of fresh peppers, bright cilantro, and a vibrant squeeze of fresh lime juice.
Local Elote Street Corn Flatbread $15
Our twist on a summer classic. This flatbread features a savory garlic-aioli base loaded with a rich, smoky local elote corn mix and fresh peppers. Baked and topped with a generous dusting of authentic cotija cheese, fresh cilantro, and a bright squeeze of lime.
