Karin Jokela
Board Member
With more than 15 years of experience in conservation, agriculture, habitat restoration, and environmental education, Karin brings scientific expertise and hands-on farming experience to the Sharing Our Roots Board. As a Pollinator Conservation Specialist with The Xerces Society, she works with farmers, conservation professionals, agencies, and community partners across Minnesota and the Upper Midwest. She is also a co-owner of Sogn Valley Farm in Cannon Falls, where she grows native plants, vegetables, Kernza, and hazelnuts and stewards natural areas through prescribed fire and targeted grazing.
Karin has trained thousands of farmers, conservation professionals, and community members through workshops and field-based education. She brings expertise in pollinator and biodiversity conservation, habitat restoration, and regenerative agriculture, along with a practical, collaborative approach to partnership-building and education. She is excited to contribute her experience as both a conservation professional and farmer to help Sharing Our Roots advance a more resilient, equitable, and community-centered food system.
